Schumann: Improvised Connections

This current collaboration between Claire, the Prince Consort and legendary Jazz pianist Jason Rebello, brings their extraordinary musicianship to bear on the frontiers between jazz and classical music.

An exploration of Schumann’s pivotal song cycle, Frauenliebe und Leben, they perform this landmark song cycle on two pianos combining and contrasting new and existing harmonies, melodies and exploring further the emotional journey of the work. Premiered at the Lammermuir Festival in 2018, this program has been recorded broadcast by BBC Radio 3.

Alistair Hogarth’s Prince Consort has always loved telling stories, singing songs and working with other musicians – sometimes from very different worlds – to create something new. Together they’ve collaborated with and commissioned incredible artists, including Ned Rorem, Philip Fowke, Jason Rebello, Cheryl Frances Hoad, Laura Mucha, Luke Wright, Gwilym Simcock, Mishka Adams, Pete Churchill, Graham Ross and Richard Ecclestone, plus favourite filmmaker, Ardalan Aram to produce great video content on a regular basis and to keep fans constantly challenged and engaged by these songs. You can also often hear them on the BBC, on Classic FM’s Facebook page and under the label Linn Records.
